Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead
Chapter 649 - 301: The Old School Building
The Romantic District is a slum; no decent police officers are willing to come here.
After Miles called the police, he waited for nearly an hour before two officers with beards slowly arrived.
Both of them were seasoned veterans; this wasn't their first odd murder case, but one as bizarre as this, they had never seen before. ๐๐ง๐๐ฎ๐ฌ๐๐ซ๐๐ธ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐.๐ฌ๐ค๐ถ
The moment they saw the scene inside basement 210, they threw up.
One of the officers had eaten less for breakfast, so he stopped retching first. Leaning against the wall, he pointed inside and asked:
"Can someone explain to me what happened?"
Miles recounted the events following the narrative Wu Chang had told him before.
The officer's face twitched a few times as he pointed to Deep, who was at the outermost part of the compressed heap of bodies, and said:
"You mean to say that this guy named Deep brutally murdered dozens of people, piled them in his room, and then was also stuffed inside?"
Most of the dead inside were people of color, while standing outside was a group of notorious White K members.
Compared to Miles' story, he was more inclined to believe that White K executed these people and used the place as a cheap storage.
Miles seemed not to notice the skepticism on the police officer's face and nodded calmly, saying:
"It was a few of Deep's accomplices who killed him. We already have their information and can provide it to the police at any time if needed."
In the Cursed Dungeon Plane, the police possess formidable firepower, and even players do not dare to easily provoke them.
Such a useful force, it would be a waste not to use it against Lin Jiang.
The officer was speechless after hearing this and realized the other side had investigated deeply, obviously targeting them for a long time.
The fact that White K had targeted them without taking action showed that the opponents were really tough, and rashly starting a fight would incur huge losses.
Whether it was secretly spying, waiting to report to the police after the opponent made a move, or framing them after the murder, it all turned the police station into a tool.
This gang of bastards, you push your troubles on us because you're afraid of loss and casualties, right?
The officer said with a forced smile, "Well, thank you very much."
Miles said candidly, "As a member of Sigef City, these are the things we should do."
The officer shook his head. Such a heinous murder case was obviously beyond his level to handle.
As he was about to make a few perfunctory comments to push the trouble back to the station, he saw a swarm of journalists with cameras pouring into the basement.
"You told the media?!"
Are you serious? You're using the police, putting additional media pressure on us, and think we won't react?
Miles glanced reluctantly at Wu Chang and, steeling himself, said:
"We just want to mobilize the forces of all sectors of society to quickly catch this group of murderers and bring peace back to Sigef City."
While the Sigef City Police Department was in turmoil over the Romance Street serial killings, Wu Chang's main body had already taken Amber to Grace's house.
Grace lived in a wealthy neighborhood, where there were no homeless people in sight and the security was excellent.
Wu Chang delivered Amber to Grace's house, used Condensing Void into Reality to summon a mini drone, then activated his Social Phobia, and sat in a new car he got from True Self.
Initially, he thought that when elementary school girls got together, they'd just watch movies at home, swing in the garden a bit, or at most, ride their bikes to a nearby park for some fun.
But Grace was far less settled than he had imagined.
After staying at home for just two hours, watching a movie, and chatting a bit about Sean, Grace got restless.
She took Amber to knock on the neighbor's door, which was opened by a high school boy with a shy face and small curly hair, someone who seemed like he would be bullied at school. When he saw Grace at the door, he looked noticeably panicked.
Grace smiled and said, "Mark, we want to go out and play, but we need a driver."
Mark shook his head and said, "Last time I almost got caught by your family; I really can't do it this time."
Grace took out her phone and played a video showing Mark spying with a telescope in the room of a girl living across the street.
"Brother Mark, you wouldn't want Betty to see this video, would you?"
Five minutes later, Grace and Amber were sitting in Mark's second-hand car, leaving her neighborhood.
Wu Chang followed in his car and found out that their destination was the dock area.
Apparently, Mark and Grace had been here more than once already.
They parked the car in a hidden spot, skillfully maneuvered to the back of a White K warehouse, and climbed into the warehouse through a small window in the toilet to sneak a peek at the bare-knuckle fight.
It should be noted that bare-knuckle fights are explicitly age-restricted, with their broadcast frequency being on adult channels.
From the beginning, Grace had been involved in activities like secretly filming, coercion, dodging tickets, and watching adult programs in violation of the rules.
Hiding in the shadows, Wu Chang couldn't help but click his tongue and wondered if Grace might be a bad influence on Amber.
But all these things Grace was doing were very novel for Amber, and she didn't show any resistance to Grace's arrangements. Instead, she seemed all the more eager.
Seeing this, Wu Chang didn't step in to stop them, considering it a social practice for Amber.
Grace was very passionate about fighting and only left when the three of them were so hungry they couldn't stand it anymore, following their original route out.
On the way back, Grace even extorted a meal from Mark.
