Chapter 79: Chapter 79: Want to Go Down the Slide

Bai Su swiftly finished cooking. She helped Yelias to his seat at the dining table, then called the little cubs downstairs to eat.

The house was full today, and they were all carnivores.

So Bai Su made a few extra meat dishes.

At the dining table, Lu Tingyan and Li Chenlin were still at each other’s throats. They even insisted on sitting opposite each other, sandwiching Bai Su between them.

Bai Su: "..."

Bai Xiaoshe and Bai Xiaolang watched the two childish adults, a look of disdain crossing their faces.

’They wouldn’t even stoop to such petty tricks to win favor.’

Yelias cleared his throat. "Girl, come sit next to me. I’d like to have a word with you."

Bowl in hand, Bai Su moved over. "Of course, Grandpa."

Lu Tingyan: "..."

Li Chenlin: "..."

Bai Su scooted next to Yelias with her bowl and placed a piece of fried insect egg in his. "Grandpa, have some of this. It’s good for protein."

Yelias nodded slightly, looked at her, and said gently, "I’ve heard that in the Southern Country, there’s a type of food that’s succulent and juicy, slightly sweet when eaten raw, and highly nutritious. Next time, I’ll have someone bring some over for you to experiment with?"

Bai Su’s eyes lit up. "I’d love that!"

’She really enjoyed interacting with the old gentleman. He always brought her new, exotic ingredients, and they always tasted delicious when cooked.’

’No chef could resist the allure of novel ingredients.’

’She had already developed three different ways to cook the fish Yelias brought last time, and all of them were delicious.’

’For her, experimenting with new ingredients and creating new dishes was a hobby and a pleasure.’

She affectionately put more food in his bowl. "You’re the best, Grandpa! Once you send the ingredients, I’ll call you over to be the first to taste-test the new dish I come up with!"

’She’d discovered that the old gentleman’s sense of taste was unusually sharp. He could keenly detect even the most subtle changes in the seasonings of a dish.’

Lu Tingyan and Li Chenlin finished their meal in a jealous funk, only to be left behind to wash the dishes and clean the kitchen.

Lu Tingyan was used to this kind of work, so he adapted fairly well.

Li Chenlin tossed down what he was holding and quit. "You expect me, the distinguished CEO of the Li Group, to wash dishes for you?"

Bai Su stared at him, speechless. "If you don’t want to wash them, then don’t come to my house for dinner."

Li Chenlin’s eyes filled with gloom as he gritted his teeth. "Bai Su!"

"What?" Bai Su wasn’t the least bit intimidated. ’Lu Tingyan is right here, what do I have to be afraid of?’

Li Chenlin glared at her. "Why are you so nice to that damned old man and that stinking wolf, but so nasty to me? Are you targeting me on purpose?"

The corner of Bai Su’s mouth twitched. "We’re not close. Isn’t it normal for me to pick on you? Did you think you’re some hot commodity that everyone has to like?"

’This snake... back when he didn’t know she was Bai Su, his words were flippant and flirtatious. He was obviously not a decent person. He even took over her room against her will, forcibly redecorated it, and replaced her small bed with a large one.’

’After he found out she was Bai Su, his opinion of her took a nosedive.’

’Then, at the hospital, after he learned the truth and found out she might become a Level 9 Female, he did a complete 180 and started eagerly fawning over her.’

’Was there a single thing about him that deserved her kindness?’

’The only reason she hadn’t kicked him out was for Bai Xiaoshe’s sake. She was hoping he could teach the Little Snake some of the things a proper Snake Beastman ought to know.’

Li Chenlin was so angry he snapped a fork in his hand. "Very well!"

With a flick of his tail, he turned and slithered out, quickly disappearing.

Bai Su paid him no mind.

She just continued cleaning the kitchen with Lu Tingyan.

Yelias also had no intention of staying long. With Lu Tingyan around, it wasn’t convenient for him to fish for information.

Bai Su saw Yelias out. Seeing that the two little ones were full and sleepy, she carried them upstairs, leaving Lu Tingyan to finish cleaning downstairs.

’It was strange. She could understand why Bai Xiaoshe was sleepy. The Federation was in the north, and the weather in October was already starting to cool down. Most Snake Beastmen became lethargic and listless.’

’But Bai Xiaolang was a Snow Wolf Beastman from the north. The climate shouldn’t affect him, yet he was also lethargic and constantly sleepy.’

Bai Su placed the two little ones on the bed, tucked them in, and gave them each a kiss.

’I’ll ask Lu Tingyan about it later.’

It was Bai Su’s habit to take a bath after a meal. Although her body was now so pure it no longer expelled any impurities, she still liked bathing after lunch. It was a good way to wash off the kitchen smells after a long morning of cooking.

She scrubbed herself clean, then drew a milk bath. Soaking in the tub, she couldn’t help but feel a lazy drowsiness creep over her.

Suddenly, there was a knock on the bathroom door. Lu Tingyan’s voice came from outside, "Susu, may I come in?"

Bai Su roused herself a little, rubbing her eyes. Her voice was raspy. "I’m in the bath..."

Lu Tingyan: "I know. I left something in there..."

Before Bai Su could react, the lock turned with a CLICK.

And just like that, Lu Tingyan walked in brazenly.

Bai Su was instantly wide awake, sinking her body deeper into the water. "I... Why did you come in?"

Lu Tingyan’s lips curled into a smirk as he leaned against the side of the tub. "Why do you think I came in?"

Panic flashed in her eyes. Her glistening, dripping appearance was utterly endearing.

Lu Tingyan’s gaze immediately darkened. "Miss Susu, may I apply to join you in the bath?"

Bai Su blushed. "No!"

A dark glint flashed in Lu Tingyan’s eyes. "Well, that’s a shame. I thought you might want to experience a massaging bathtub."

Bai Su was confused. "My bathtub already has a massage function."

Lu Tingyan’s lips curled. "I mean... an ergonomically designed massaging bathtub, one with voice-controlled vibration intensity, where the amplitude, mode, and rhythm can all be controlled just the way you like it."

Bai Su quickly understood what he meant.

Now, it wasn’t just her face; her entire body’s milky-white skin began to flush red. She felt a little hot, her brain starved for oxygen. "I... I..."

She tried to change the subject. "Don’t always be like this. Grandpa was just downstairs, and you were already misbehaving in front of him. This..."

Lu Tingyan moved closer, deliberately cutting her off. "You can also sit on some abs and go down the slide. Is our esteemed guest sure she doesn’t want to try?"

’Any thoughts of changing the subject in Bai Su’s mind were instantly shattered, with no hope of re-forming.’

’Who could possibly resist that!’

The little rabbit suddenly struck back, yanking the massive Snow Wolf into the milk bath with her.

Yet the expression on her face was haughty, her little head held high as if she were superior. But the tremor in her voice betrayed her bluff. "I want..."

Lu Tingyan’s lips curled. "Want what?"

The tremor in Bai Su’s voice became even more obvious. "To... go down the slide..."

Lu Tingyan’s lips curled. He easily straightened his back, bouncing her weight a little. His voice was incredibly hoarse. "Sit tight. Don’t come crying to me if you fall off."
