Beast World: From Villainess to Cub-Raising Chef
Chapter 52: The Four Future Villains Are All Her Cubs
Bai Su ate and drank her fill, let out a burp, and collapsed onto the table, belly up.
The little bunny is full. The little bunny wants to sleep.
Lu Tingyan wasn’t the least bit disgusted. He picked up the bowl of noodles she’d left behind and finished every last bite.
’If it didn’t have my wife’s saliva on it, I wouldn’t touch this disgusting slop.’
After their meal, he had Yodel clean up the kitchen while he carried his little rabbit upstairs.
Their relationship had become so intimate that he felt there were many things he could no longer hide from her.
Lu Tingyan softened his voice. "Susu, do you know that Little Wolf is your child?"
Bai Su said, "Of course he’s my child!"
Lu Tingyan couldn’t help but chuckle. "I mean, you gave birth to him. He came out of your belly."
Bai Su froze. "How is that possible?! I’m infertile..."
Afraid she would get too worked up, Lu Tingyan gently pushed her down into a nearby chair. "Calm down. Let me show you something."
He pulled up some data from his terminal and displayed it in front of her. "I took a sample of your hair and Little Wolf’s and ran a DNA test. You are, in fact, his mother. And he is my son."
"So..." Lu Tingyan’s expression softened, his gaze so tender it seemed to overflow. "Susu, during the year you lost your memory, you gave me a child."
Bai Su was dumbfounded.
Suddenly, a system notification chimed in her mind: [Ding! Congratulations on activating the side quest: The Lost Memories and the Heroine’s Halo.]
A flood of images that had never existed before suddenly rushed into her mind.
In the vision, the original, obese owner of her body was dumped at a mountaintop orphanage. She was covered in blood, and a steady stream of it flowed from between her legs.
The woman passed out.
After being unconscious for several days, the woman was finally roused by hunger.
Her survival instincts took over. She crawled into the orphanage kitchen, found a few cans of food, and managed to stay alive.
Days later, her belly began to swell.
Her mental state grew more and more erratic. One moment she would stare at her belly and laugh, the next she would be muttering curses under her breath.
Then she would break down, clutching her belly and crying uncontrollably.
Months later, her belly had grown enormous. Finally, on a rainy night, her water broke, and several small creatures crawled out of her belly.
But of the cubs that emerged, only the first—the little wolf cub—could be seen clearly. The rest were a complete blur.
Bai Su frowned slightly. ’System, can you make the image any clearer?’
System: [Nope! This is all hidden story content. The host needs to unlock it on her own.]
A thought struck Bai Su, and she quickly put it together. ’So, Bai Xiaolang is really my child?’
System: [That’s right! He’s the child of the host and Male Lead #1.]
[Cub retrieval successful. Calculating your points for childbirth.]
Bai Su paused for a second. ’Even though I wasn’t the one who gave birth, it still counts for me?’
System: [Yep! As far as the present is concerned, you’re the one who gave birth. Besides, you’re the one who found him.]
Bai Su nodded in understanding and turned to Lu Tingyan. "You already knew Little Wolf was your son? How did you know? And why didn’t you tell me?"
Lu Tingyan replied, "I only recognized him after I accidentally saw him use my Companion Ability."
He was overcome with both emotion and heartache. "Thank you, Susu. To think you gave me such an excellent heir."
Bai Su’s mind was a chaotic mess. She looked at Lu Tingyan. "So, you only got close to me because you knew Little Wolf was my son?"
Her stare made his heart race. "Of course not."
’If it were only about having an heir,’ he thought, ’I would have just taken Bai Xiaolang and left after I found out. I wouldn’t have stayed here.’
He held Bai Su close. "Susu, you’re not like any other female I’ve ever met."
"While I don’t want you to wear yourself out running a restaurant, I have to admit... the way you look when you cook, the way you shine in the restaurant, surrounded by people who adore you... it all makes my heart pound."
"There’s never been another female like you. Susu, you’re a gift from the Beast God."
Bai Su relaxed and patted his shoulder. "Good. The Beast God told me that if you ever betray me, you’ll be struck by lightning."
Lu Tingyan chuckled. "Don’t worry. We of the Wolf Clan have always been loyal, and that goes for our relationships, too. I’ve chosen you, and it will be you for the rest of my life. That won’t change."
As he spoke, he started to get worked up again.
Bai Su quickly took a wary step back, putting some distance between them. "Thank you, I love you too, but it’s time for you to go home."
Seeing her on guard, Lu Tingyan couldn’t help but laugh. "We’re already so close. It’s not too much to ask to make it official, is it?"
Bai Su had already made up her mind and was just waiting for him to ask.
She nodded. "Okay."
Lu Tingyan’s eyes lit up. "You are? You really are? Then I’ll go plan our engagement ceremony right now!"
Bai Su hugged him. "Okay."
Lu Tingyan asked, "Can I announce you publicly? Let everyone know what an outstanding female you are."
Bai Su nodded. "Of course."
’He was willing to face public condemnation to support her restaurant. How could her heart not be moved?’
Bai Su was a decisive person. Once she made a decision, she saw it through with lightning speed.
Lu Tingyan was so excited he wanted to go for another round, but Bai Su politely refused and shut him out the door.
’I still need to sort out this plot in my head,’ she thought. ’I don’t have time to be all lovey-dovey with him right now.’
After seeing Lu Tingyan off, Bai Su mentally ground her teeth and went to settle the score with her system. ’Oh, so *this* is my reward?’ 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
’I was a good person my entire life, only to die and get dragged here for a rebirth just so you could screw me over?!’
’Why didn’t you tell me Bai Xiaolang was my son!’
The system was so scared it seemed to shrink into the deepest corners of her mind. [But the original owner didn’t know! The body didn’t have those memories, so we couldn’t just forcibly implant them. We had to give them to you by triggering a side quest.]
Bai Su snorted coldly. ’What else are you hiding from me?’
The system answered guiltily, [N-Nothing else.]
Bai Su narrowed her eyes. ’Still lying to me? System, do you realize you stutter every time you lie?’
The system wanted to cry. ’Merchants are so hard to deal with,’ it thought, before replying, [Th-There’s really nothing else!]
Bai Su glared at it, displeased. ’Still lying. If you don’t tell me, I’ll just let everything go to hell and let your entire novel plot collapse!’
System: [No, don’t! This world is really supposed to be your reward.]
Bai Su: ’But I don’t like lies.’
The system had no choice but to come clean. [Actually... the four future main villains of the novel are all your children.]
Bai Su: ’?’
’A wolf, a snake, a White Spider, and a little lizard... You’re telling me I gave birth to all of them? How could I produce so many different, bizarre species in a single litter?’
The system guiltily shut down, going offline to hide from the fallout.
Bai Su: ’...’
