Chapter 973 - 955: Gwen Aveya
On the way, I greeted the Maggot Men on duty and quickly arrived outside Rosalie’s chamber.
Leonard, as usual, leaned against the wall at the door with his arms crossed.
He seemed indifferent to everything.
He merely extended a hand to gesture behind him, indicating that Lann could go in and meet the Goddess.
Entering through the door damaged by Elderidge, Rosalie’s chamber had undergone some changes.
The room, originally filled with cribs, including those hanging from the ceiling, had all been removed.
Under the faint red candlelight, the room wasn’t as eerie anymore.
It felt almost cozy... was it an illusion?
But as Lann took a few more steps forward, approaching the Mother of Rebirth, he realized it wasn’t an illusion.
Rosalie’s true form was that of the legendary Sunshine Princess; as long as she wasn’t twisted, exuding a heartwarming atmosphere came naturally to her.
In the past, with her near mental breakdown, she certainly didn’t have this capability.
But Lann had brought back her child and a method to save them.
This also saved Rosalie, who was close to collapsing.
Lann approached the Goddess’s bed, where endless warm sunlight spread from Rosalie’s hand.
And the little infant Othello and Saint Gecide were visibly improving.
The divine offspring, tormented by the Great Library’s knowledge and experiments, were now curled up around their mother, sleeping peacefully.
Compared to when he first met Rosalie, the gloomy aura she exuded was now replaced by a familial atmosphere, like a mother soothing her child to sleep under the sunset.
So much so that Lann, who walked forward, unconsciously began to speak softly.
"Good day."
Lann stepped forward and bowed to the Goddess.
Rosalie, seated on the bed, also leaned forward to return the bow.
After the formal greeting, Lann began to discuss serious matters.
"Before departing, Leonard asked me to check your original chamber, but the development was too rapid, leading it to a rather explosive direction."
Lann licked his lips lightly, feeling a bit embarrassed.
Although it was the big brother who turned the Yanorlund ruins into a ’dangerous house,’ he was the one who found this brother.
Lann briefly described the current state of the Yanorlund chamber— 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
It was likely mixed with shattered rocks from the blasted half-mountain.
Fortunately, the true owner of the Yanorlund chamber didn’t seem to mind these things.
Rosalie gently shook her head, covered by a black veil, showing no concern.
Now that the flame has faded, noble status and high position hold no significance.
She wanted to go to Ilyushil not to reside in its lofty, cold palace but to look after her siblings and face danger together.
After all, she is no longer an isolated individual wandering aimlessly.
Having explained the entrusted task, Lann began to convey his intention for returning.
"Besides... I wish to bid farewell to you."
Lann said softly.
But upon hearing this, the Mother of Rebirth’s endless warm sunlight abruptly halted for a moment.
Her veiled face lifted slightly, looking at Lann.
"No, please don’t overthink," Lann could easily understand Rosalie’s current feelings without using the mutated Yakxi Rune to communicate.
He smiled and waved his hand.
"It has nothing to do with you or your followers, I simply have a place I must return to."
Lann’s words offered no room for persuasion.
Even though the world is in decay and chaos now, some things are indeed more important than life, a common scenario in this world.
Rosalie lowered her head slightly.
Though Lann felt a bit sorry seeing the Goddess’s subdued demeanor, he sensed he had completed his farewell and prepared to turn and leave.
But just as Lann turned halfway.
A beam stronger and warmer than the previous endless sunlight spread from Rosalie’s bed.
Along with the sunlight came sounds that shouldn’t exist here.
A tangible, gentle voice as warm as sunlight.
"Dear, are you truly... resolute in your decision?"
Lann turned his face, somewhat stiff, looking toward Rosalie’s bed.
The image was entirely different from before.
The previously gloomy and sorrowful Goddess had transformed entirely.
With long wine-red hair cascading down, just the sight made one almost smell the delightful sunlight scent.
The hazy black veil had been removed, revealing a gentle and loving face.
Her body, initially slumped on the bed, seemed to have become voluptuous and more graceful due to these changes.
The world’s soul and body are closely linked and mutually influence each other.
Hence any change in one aspect will trigger a comprehensive transformation.
"What is this..."
Lann was momentarily speechless, unsure of what was happening.
"A part of my soul was cut away, which is my tongue."
The completely transformed Rosalie... or now her true name should be known as - Sunshine Princess Gwen Aveya.
Her gentle face suddenly playfully stuck out her tongue, revealing the tip.
"Those were distant and sad matters, and I felt that whether it is restored or not was of no importance. But now..."
"If I cannot use my own voice to bid you farewell, that’s what seems regretful."
"I..." Lann blinked his beautiful eyes, speaking awkwardly. "I am honored."
Meanwhile, the biological intelligence in his brain was acting strangely, continuously playing ’tsk tsk tsk’ sound of tongue-clicking.
Lann struggled hard to suppress the chaotic Mentos.
"Speaking of which..." After a moment of silence, Gwen Aveya still maintained that warm smile, softly asking the Demon Hunter.
"Are you still determined? In this chaotic and disordered world."
"I am a traveler from... a remote frontier." Lann cautiously chose his words.
"I apologize, Princess. But I must indeed return home."
"If that’s your decision." Gwen Aveya nodded slowly, "Then I have no reason to stop you. I just hope you’ll remember, Lann."
"What?"
"Please remember that my children and I will always remember your selfless help. If you need a safe haven or any other assistance, please do not hesitate to tell us."
"Sworn in the name of Gwen Aveya, Sunshine Princess: I will forever keep a place open for you."
Upon finishing, the Sunshine Princess extended a hand towards the Demon Hunter, as if inviting him to place his hand on hers.
Do siblings have habits so alike?
Lann recalled the scene of saying farewell to Shadow Sun in Ilyushil not long ago.
But he still stepped forward and placed his hand gently on Gwen Aveya’s open palm.
Perhaps because it was simply restoring the body, without considering the soul that had been cut away, Gwen Aveya’s form was not like the Moon God described, resembling the Nameless King.
Instead, she was about the same height as Lann.
Lann thought randomly, and then, the two touching palms emitted a bright but not glaring, warm and gentle glow.
The Demon Hunter looking up in confusion at the Sunshine Princess received only a beautiful smile with no intention of answering the perplexity.
Thus, the Demon Hunter could only maintain this ungrounded confusion, turning around to leave the chamber.
And upon reaching the doorway, Lann was surprised to discover that the outside was already kneeling in reverence.
Leonard was bowing his head and kneeling on one knee, facing the entrance.
Behind him, the Maggot Men’s soft bodies, without legs anymore, could only prostrate to signal respect.
Lann instinctively sidestepped; he could never tolerate this.
In the Demon Hunter’s mind, it should be Gwen Aveya revealing her true form after healing herself, along with this warm Power of Sunlight, that made these followers automatically enter a state of worship.
So Lann hurriedly moved step by step against the wall, avoiding facing the direction being bowed to.
Only after he left the platform of the chamber did he finally breathe a sigh of relief.
However, the downcast Demon Hunter did not seem to notice, besides Leonard, quite a few... of the Maggot Men seemed to be turning in the direction following his movement.
-----------------
After bidding farewell to Gwen Aveya, Lann was still preparing to find friends who had previously gone to Ilyushil to help within Profound Church, just to say goodbye.
In a small room in Profound Church, he found Kirk and Hazel, who often hung around together.
But unexpectedly, Sirius was also there.
When Lann walked over, they were talking to each other.
It should be the shared experience of fighting for the Moon God, letting both sides understand each other’s positions, thus easing the original relationship.
"Never seen this person before."
Hazel, as always, bluntly said, still as straightforward as ever.
"Are you sure the person you’re looking for is lingering nearby?"
Kirk habitually remained silent, just shook his head at Sirius, indicating he too had no news.
Sirius said nothing, under the exquisite silver headpiece, her aloof face frowned, appearing troubled.
This was already one of her rare ’intense’ emotional fluctuations.
Seeing Lann walk in, they all greeted him.
Sirius also adjusted her expression, walking closer.
"After we parted previously, I came here seeking news and listened to quite a bit."
The Female Knight from the Land of Dusk now seemed relatively closer in her words than before.
Under the silver headpiece, her eyes gazed at Lann.
"Heard that you are a kind person, aiding the Lord of Cinder ascending the throne, rekindling the First Flame. I apologize for my previous caution."
"Please accept this, it’s a gift of apology."
Sirius said, taking a ring from her pocket and handing it to Lann.
The image on the ring was a cat.
"The silver cat ring makes your body light, like a cat; as long as the limit isn’t exceeded, you remain unharmed even when falling from great heights."
