Back to the 70s: My Childhood Sweetheart Spoils Me Rotten
Chapter 993 - 995: Cao Li Returns
After Gong Ruini handed in her last exam paper, she walked out of the examination hall with a light stride.
"Let’s take a picture." Zhao Guangran took a few photos of Gong Ruini, who had just walked out of the exam hall, as a memento.
Gong Ruini was displeased that the camera was in Zhao Guangran’s hands; she had clearly instructed Zhao Xuran to take the photos.
Gong Ruini was really worried that Zhao Guangran’s skills would make her look ugly in the photos.
"Don’t worry, I’m not like you." Zhao Guangran claimed he was a generous man and wouldn’t be as petty as Gong Ruini.
There was really no confidence in that statement, and Gong Ruini didn’t even want to look at him.
Zhao Guangran cheerfully handed the camera to his brother and said, "I’m leaving."
Then he quickly got into the car and drove off, humming a tune as he went.
Gong Ruini didn’t understand why Zhao Guangran drove away when she was held by the school teachers and the principal.
"The exam wasn’t difficult."
"It was okay, I think it went well."
"The difficulty wasn’t too high, as long as everyone didn’t perform too poorly, there should definitely be no problem."
After answering everyone’s questions one by one, Gong Ruini was finally allowed to leave. They actually wanted to keep her talking for a longer time, but couldn’t because her parents were nearby.
"Do you have confidence this time?" The principal was concerned about this point, even though it would be great if all the senior students performed well, nothing could beat having a top scorer in the entrance exam.
"Of course!" Gong Ruini gave the principal a strong fist gesture.
"Let’s go, let’s head straight to the restaurant." Zhao Xuran took over Gong Ruini’s backpack and said, "We really should’ve let Zhao Guangran take it."
I really don’t understand how that guy can drive so fast, it’s not like he’s not allowed to drive.
"Did he go to see Cao Na?" Although they were in the same school, because of the division of arts and science, they weren’t in the same exam hall.
"I wonder if she can get into the Foreign Language University this time." Gong Ruini didn’t know why Cao Na gave up on Shangjing University, but she wasn’t too surprised by her choice.
Studying such a major is probably her way of telling the Cao Family about her decision.
"Her grades shouldn’t be a problem; she’s already bought an apartment near the Foreign Language University."
Ah, bought an apartment there, Gong Ruini didn’t understand why Cao Na would buy a place there, but before that, she wanted to know one thing, "How do you know?"
How could her man know other women’s business? Even though it’s impossible between them now, Gong Ruini was still on guard.
After all, it’s a former close friend; don’t people say you should be wary of your best friends?
This jealousy, Zhao Xuran was amused, but still quite happy, showing that she cares about him, "I recently bought a house near the school and saw her."
"You didn’t know she bought houses near Jing University, the Art College, and the Finance and Economics University and rented them out?" Zhao Xuran didn’t know why Cao Na bought houses in these places, but it proves she has a good eye.
"The prices aren’t too high, but they are easy to rent out." Zhao Xuran sighed a little, "She’s a person who uses her brain." 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
Isn’t that obvious? If Cao Na didn’t have any brains, why would they hang out with her? Neither Gong Ruini nor Zhao Guangran would hang out with someone with no future.
"But I’m quite glad she didn’t go with you to Shangjing University." Zhao Xuran felt a bit regretful, but right now he had no thoughts about the Cao Family.
"The Cao Family has transferred Cao Li back, and it seems she’s working at the tax bureau." Zhao Xuran wasn’t surprised that Cao Li was transferred back and working in such a good department.
"Her husband is transferred laterally." Even though it’s a lateral transfer, moving from Yangcheng to Beijing is already good, and a lateral transfer also means they have some capability.
Cao Li entering the tax bureau, Gong Ruini was worried. At the moment the tax bureau doesn’t seem too important, but it will gradually become very important.
Cao Li would surely hold a grudge, and Gong Ruini didn’t want this person to keep an eye on them and then exert force at some unpredictable time.
"Don’t worry, by the time she reaches a certain position, we won’t be the ones to be easily bullied anymore."
"Plus, there’s something unfavorable in Cao Li’s record. It won’t be easy for her to advance in her career." Zhao Xuran had no favorable views about Cao Li.
Ah, there’s an issue in Cao Li’s record? Gong Ruini really didn’t understand how Zhao Xuran could know such confidential information, normally isn’t it the leaders who give Cao Li evaluations, and not just ordinary leaders either.
"The reason Cao Li was transferred wasn’t due to someone pushing her out, nor because of the Wang Family’s decline, but because she did something wrong. It was out of consideration for the Wang Family that she got a lateral move."
Ah, that can’t be! Gong Ruini hadn’t expected that to be the case.
"Since then, she’s been feeling wronged and keeps saying she was bullied. If she had evidence, this could be resolved, but she just doesn’t have any." Zhao Xuran really couldn’t understand why such a straightforward situation wasn’t clear to her; really didn’t know how the Cao Family educated her initially.
Whether she was set up isn’t important, what’s important is, "Not being at the original unit, such a penalty can’t be undone."
Gong Ruini didn’t really understand these things, but she knew some penalties could be erased after some years, however, with Cao Li changing departments and now relocating to Beijing, handling this penalty wouldn’t be easy.
No way, considering Cao Li’s brainpower, she shouldn’t make such mistakes, did she forget?
"At that time the Wang family was also in chaos, her mind was probably too scattered to care." Zhao Xuran wouldn’t say he intentionally tripped up the Wang Family.
Plus, with coordination from various sides, by the time Cao Na came to her senses, she found there was no way to undo the previous mistakes.
Zhao Xuran didn’t think there was anything wrong with what he did, people who bullied his brother and wife couldn’t get away with it.
Along the way, the two talked about happy things. But Zhao Xuran constantly thought about asking one thing, now that they both got into university, and he bought a house near Jing University, he wondered if it might be possible for Ni Zi to live with him.
This thought had been on Zhao Xuran’s mind for a long time, but he didn’t dare bring it up, fearing that Ni Zi would disagree. No, not that Ni Zi would disagree, but that Gong Tao and the others would disagree.
After all his contemplation, Zhao Xuran decided he should first ask Gong Ruwen, maybe this older brother-in-law could help a bit.
Gong Ruini wasn’t aware of Zhao Xuran’s dilemma, she was just very happy that she finally finished the college entrance exam and now just had to wait for the results.
Then a new stage of life should be waiting for her. Saying she’s not excited or ecstatic would be a lie, "I think we should go out and have fun."
Even though post-exam trips weren’t trendy anymore, Gong Ruini didn’t mind giving herself a little vacation.
She had a hunch that once the results were out, she definitely wouldn’t be able to relax properly, so she might as well take it easy while she could.
