Back to the 70s: My Childhood Sweetheart Spoils Me Rotten
Chapter 1005 - 1007: Growing Tensions
Once again receiving Luo Zijun’s eye-roll, Gong Ruini had already gotten used to pretending she didn’t see it.
There was nothing she could do — this girl just loved to keep sneering; since she enjoyed it, of course, they would let her be.
As for the rest of the dorm, they were also used to it. Before, someone would ask if her throat was okay, but after a few snarky retorts, no one asked anymore.
"Ni Zi, are you ready? Let’s go." Huang Yawen asked from the doorway.
Gong Ruini walked past Luo Zijun. "Coming, coming."
The group left in a lively manner, leaving Luo Zijun alone, which made her furious.
"How could it be like this?" Luo Zijun never imagined she’d be so disliked.
"Just a bunch of sycophants." No matter how dissatisfied she was, Luo Zijun could only pack her backpack and get ready for class.
Luo Zijun’s family had high expectations for her, hoping she would study well at Jing University and see if she could stay in Beijing.
Even if she couldn’t stay in Beijing for work, getting a diploma from Jing University and having good grades would help her family when she returned home.
This made Luo Zijun feel even more pressured, as her living expenses were tied to her grades.
Rushing to the classroom, Luo Zijun discovered she was late and had to sit in the back, while of course, Gong Ruini and her friends took the seats up front.
Luo Zijun was quite upset. Weren’t they all from the same dorm? How come there was no camaraderie and they wouldn’t even save her a seat?
Hearing the sneering coming from her side, Gong Ruini felt truly helpless. Was this girl brainless or what, sneering nonstop, really thinking too much of herself.
The issue was, no matter how angry Luo Zijun got, no one cared, as it just made them look down on her.
Even now, there were many voices saying studying was useless, but those studying at Jing University were proud in their own ways and wouldn’t make space for anyone.
Gong Ruini chuckled to herself, but she felt even happier today was Saturday and she’d be returning home later.
"By the way, Ni Zi, where is clothing cheap around here?" Liu Yun asked quietly.
Although Gong Ruini wore clothes brought back from Yangcheng by Cai Ming and the others, she knew a thing or two about where clothing was cheap in Beijing.
She tore a piece of paper from her notebook, writing down the address and directions from school.
"The clothes there are nice and pretty cheap, but you need to haggle." It’s not a shopping mall, so of course, you can haggle.
You can haggle? Liu Yun was surprised.
"Don’t worry, you can negotiate with them. It’s not a mall; how could it be a fixed price?" Even in some malls, people would bargain nowadays.
Liu Yun didn’t understand much about this, but seeing Gong Ruini’s demeanor, they could only nod in agreement.
From the back, Luo Zijun watched Gong Ruini enthusiastically chatting with others and felt very uncomfortable, thinking they were probably badmouthing her.
Liu Yun looked at the notes Gong Ruini was taking, then looked at her own, feeling a strong impulse to throw hers away.
How could Ni Zi’s handwriting be so good? Many were puzzled and envious, knowing that good handwriting can make exams more pleasant for teachers, possibly leading to better grades.
At everyone’s envious gazes, "Just practice more." There’s no shortcut to this, it’s purely about individual effort.
Practicing handwriting, it’s not that hard. To have beautiful handwriting, they were willing to try, but upon hearing how much Gong Ruini practiced daily, they were stunned.
"Nothing’s easy," she said, "Persisting through has always been challenging, but I’m grateful for it now."
Strong, after hearing what Gong Ruini said, some had already given up on this, realizing they didn’t have that kind of time, needing to focus on studying instead.
Regarding their choices, Gong Ruini said nothing, as she packed her things, "Okay, I’m off."
Liu Yun and the others were reluctant, watching Gong Ruini leave.
When Gong Ruwen saw his sister appear, he immediately pulled her to his side.
If she wanted to use him as a shield, he would show her the consequences of an angry shield.
"How’s it going?" Gong Ruwen asked, taking the book. "Has anyone been bullying you?"
Gong Ruwen had stood at the classroom door for a while, noticing a girl’s odd gaze towards his sister. There must be something wrong if it was for no reason.
It was her habit to say nothing happened, but recalling Luo Zijun, she decided to seize this chance to gain some benefits while her brother and his friends were still at school.
"Of course, there was." Gong Ruini recounted everything that had happened earlier.
She? Both Zhao Xuran and Gong Ruwen were unhappy. They knew she might be difficult, but assumed it was due to her parents.
Parents always hope their children live comfortably in the dorm.
Zhao Xuran never thought his mother had arranged such a roommate for his sister.
"Mom couldn’t have known the other person would be like that." Gong Ruini understood why Cai Meina set her up with Luo Zijun; they believed her parents in legal professions could be beneficial, studying and progressing together.
No one expected this outcome. "It’s okay, she isn’t popular in our dorm anyway."
If the initial impression wasn’t good, she could change it by behaving well later; the only issue was this girl kept choosing the path of self-destruction, and Gong Ruini could only admire her stubbornness.
"She’s petty, but be careful," Gong Ruwen advised. Being her brother, Zhao Xuran also noticed.
He had been watching, "Be cautious in the dorm."
Gong Ruini naturally knew what to do, keeping important items to herself while asserting dominance as needed.
"You can do that?" Clearly, this girl had really gotten on her nerves to resort to such tactics.
Of course she’d use this tactic earlier she felt there was no need. "Everyone’s good; I’m good too."
"If someone hits harder, I won’t hold back."
"I’ll let her know it doesn’t matter how she boasts at home or who flatters her. In Beijing, she’d better behave, or she’ll face consequences."
Ordinary people would be scared off once, but dealing with Luo Zijun required continuous power plays.
Listening to Gong Ruini’s plans for Luo Zijun, Gong Ruwen admired his sister.
Hearing her speak confidently, Gong Ruwen felt relieved, knowing she was seriously considering the matter and not just brushing it off.
Zhoa Xuran, quietly listening beside them, thought Ni Zi underestimated Luo Zijun, believing the girl wouldn’t give up easily.
