After I Fully Prepared for the Apocalypse, the Ungrateful Cried with Regret
Chapter 275: The Bet Is Placed, Don’t Disappoint
Even though the betting was just for fun.
The maximum bet was only 100 Crystal Cores, just to let everyone have a little fun.
But Chelsea Walsh was still a bit disheartened.
Basically, ninety percent of the bets were on Tyson Hughes of the Superpower User Alliance.
"That’s to be expected. The Superpower User Alliance’s performance in the preliminary rounds was indeed impressive."
Daniel Hale said.
Especially Tyson Hughes. Every time he fought, he won his match in under a minute.
"At least ten percent still chose our team, Stella. That’s not bad."
Wendy Marshall and Yvonne Willow even asked where to go, planning to place some bets themselves.
Of course, they were definitely betting on Stella.
Hearing this, Alaric Fletcher and the others all followed suit. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
Nina Jacobs didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
The matches that day were spectacular. When the referee announced the six winning teams, cheers erupted from several spots in the venue.
"Let’s save tonight’s celebration for tomorrow. Any objections?"
Nina Jacobs asked.
"No objections, Captain!"
Wayne Abbott and the others were already beaming with joy.
Even the usually stone-faced Kyle Keaton was swept up in the mood.
When they learned Nina Jacobs would be in the finals the next day, Shirley Lucas and Ian Chandler came over to cheer her on in advance.
"Nina should be back any minute. Please, have a seat."
Just a moment after Vera Coleman finished speaking, Nina Jacobs returned with Wayne Warner in tow.
"Nina, the brackets for tomorrow’s matches have been set. Did you know?"
Ian Chandler asked.
He had come specifically to tell Nina Jacobs, worried she might have missed the news.
Stella’s opponent was the Superpower User Alliance.
This was also the base’s intention.
"Yeah, I know."
Nina Jacobs had just come back from seeing Myra Lawson, and before that, she had already received a message from Adrian Shaw.
Besides the bracket information, the competition would use a 1v1 match format.
In other words, each team only needed one person. She alone would represent all of Stella.
"I bet on you to win today. The bet is placed, so don’t let me down."
Seeing that Nina Jacobs wasn’t the least bit nervous, Shirley Lucas felt a little more at ease.
"Do you know when the people from City A are planning to leave?"
Nina Jacobs asked.
Trevor, next door, had already woken up.
Although his Superpower was a bit unstable from absorbing too many Crystal Cores, at least his life was saved.
Worried about their tribe, Lana and the others wanted to head back soon.
However, the journey would be incredibly difficult with just the few of them.
In other words, they wanted to seek help from the City D Base.
But so far, Nina Jacobs hadn’t revealed their situation to anyone.
"Probably within three days after the tournament ends. They have to go to other bases next."
Shirley Lucas answered.
Nina Jacobs nodded. The finals were tomorrow, which meant Lana and the others would only have to wait about four days. They should be able to hold out that long.
「On the day of the finals.」
When the people from City A got the match information, Wystan Sullivan cried out in shock:
"How is that possible? She’s a Dual Element?!"
"What Dual Element?"
Ansel Warner, who had been talking with Justin Lawson, looked over at the list upon hearing this.
Seeing the shocked expressions on their faces, Justin Lawson just smiled.
"Apologies, everyone. We only found out about this last night ourselves."
It turned out that besides her Fire Element Superpower, Nina Jacobs also had an Earth Element Superpower.
The news had kept them excited all night long.
It was a wonderful surprise!
"Then why didn’t she say anything before?"
Wystan Sullivan asked.
"The kid is introverted and doesn’t like to show off,"
Justin Lawson replied.
’Introverted?’
The men exchanged glances. ’Since when could the word "introverted" be used like that?’
"Mr. Sullivan, this is a good thing," Landon Hayes said.
’This way, even if I beat Nina Jacobs, no one will be able to say I just got lucky...’
"You’re right, it is a good thing. Our Drakonia should have more powerhouses like her."
After his initial shock, Ansel Warner felt gratified.
’A Dual Element Intermediate Superpower User... It seems City D Base’s promotion to a Tier Three Base is practically a sure thing now...’
And when the referee announced the contestants’ names and information, many people who knew Nina Jacobs were left with their jaws on the floor.
That included Chester Pearson and his group.
"A Dual Element, she’s a Dual Element?! How did I not know that before?"
’Did Nina Jacobs just awaken it?’
Chester Pearson’s thoughts were in a whirl.
"It’s not like Nina was hiding it on purpose; she just never had a chance to mention it."
Ian Chandler had already gone through this shock with Shirley Lucas the night before.
Forget them—even Daniel Hale and Vera Coleman hadn’t known.
Still, everyone was happy for Nina Jacobs.
Especially the members of Stella today; every single one of them was beaming.
Down by the arena, Tyson Hughes stood in the waiting area, remarking with great interest, "So, you’re a Fire and Earth Dual Element."
"Yeah." Nina Jacobs just gave a slight nod.
Tyson Hughes grinned, his eyes filled with anticipation.
"Looks like today’s duel is going to be interesting."
’Last time at the shelter, I didn’t get to fight to my heart’s content at all.’
"You’re an Intermediate Superpower User too, right?"
Nina Jacobs asked.
It was just her guess.
She figured Tyson Hughes must also know that she was an Intermediate Superpower User.
His eagerness for this match suggested the answer was right in front of her.
’He’s an Intermediate Superpower User, too.’
A match ended just then. Tyson Hughes stood up, turned to her, and said,
"Whether I am or not, you’ll find out when you fight me."
By the time the referee announced the start of the match, the excitement in Tyson Hughes’s eyes had reached its peak.
She gazed at the monstrous torrent of lightning behind him.
Nina Jacobs’s lips curled into a smile.
’So he really is an Intermediate.’
The next second, soaring orange-yellow flames instantly spread across the arena.
In mid-air, the Fire Element and Thunder Element Superpowers collided, the immense force threatening to tear the entire venue apart.
The magnificent display of energy was so spectacular that everyone present couldn’t help but rise to their feet.
Their hearts pounded in their chests, filled with awe and yearning.
"It’s Intermediate level! That’s an Intermediate Superpower User!"
someone shouted.
"What’s going on? City D Base has two Intermediate Superpower Users?!"
Akira Gallagher from South Riven Base said in disbelief.
"It seems the people from your base are all very low-key."
A man dressed in tight-fitting black gear sat to the side, the muscles beneath his unzipped jacket faintly visible.
"Being low-key isn’t a bad thing, is it?"
Myra Lawson shot Silas Sinclair a sideways glance.
This man’s family held some status in City A. He had only arrived at the City D Base last night, his purpose unknown.
However, hearing that he would be traveling with Ansel Warner and the others to the next destination, she hadn’t pried any further.
Silas Sinclair smiled. "Indeed, it’s not a bad thing at all."
He said no more, as the duel in the arena was more than enough to capture everyone’s attention.
Leaping orange flames smashed into the ground, sometimes forming into Fire Serpents, other times erupting in a shower of sparks upon impact.
Tyson Hughes didn’t dare to be careless; he knew how dangerous those sparks were.
His Speed Element Superpower, accompanied by blue lightning, zipped across the vast arena, only to be suddenly blocked by a protruding Stone Spike.
"You’re the first person who’s ever been able to stop me."
Tyson Hughes said.
"Is that so?"
With a wave of Nina Jacobs’s hand, the entire arena transformed into a forest of stone.
Each Stone Spike was over two meters tall, almost completely restricting any room for a Speed Element Superpower to maneuver.
A forest from a wave of her hand.
Even Tyson Hughes hadn’t expected it.
"She’s that strong?!"
Leo Hale excitedly hugged Daniel Hale.
Who would have thought that Nina Jacobs’s Earth Element Superpower would be so powerful too!
"This kid is really..."
Daniel Hale wiped away a tear.
