Chapter 2: Special Quest

Rios looked at the system panel with complete fascination as he examined his stats and the numerous question marks next to his bloodline and the Abyss Tomb skill. He completely forgot the questions he originally wanted to ask the system and instead asked something else!

"System, how do I earn points?" Rios asked, even though he already more or less knew the answer.

[Points can be earned by completing quests or by killing other creatures according to their level or the difficulty of the quest.]

"System, what are these points used for?"

[The Host can use points to unlock privileges provided by the system, or use them to increase their level.]

"How do I do that?" Rios asked in confusion since he couldn’t move to touch the system screen.

[The Host only needs to focus on the desired section, and the details will automatically appear.]

Rios looked at the system panel and focused on his level.

ــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــ

[Level: Master (1)]

[Progress: 10%]

[Master (2): Locked]

[Master (3): Locked]

[Wis (4): Locked]

[????]

ــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــ

Rios looked at his level, and to his surprise, he found the higher levels listed as well, further improving his almost nonexistent understanding of this world.

However, for some strange reason, it stopped at the fourth level, Wis!

"System, why do the levels stop at Wis (4)?"

[This world does not contain anyone above Wis (4), therefore there is no benefit in knowing the higher levels.]

"I see..."

Rios thought to himself, but before he could ask anything else, the system’s voice sounded again.

ــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــ

Ding!

[Special Quest]

Quest Details: This world does not support individuals above the level of Wis, making it an excellent starting point for any protagonist with ambition. Within fifty years, the Host must conquer this world and build their own empire.

Time Limit: 50 years

Reward: Depends on the Host’s performance!

Penalty: Death!!!

ــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــ

"Isn’t that a little too harsh, man? Death?! Are you serious?! And how am I supposed to conquer this damn world when I can’t even move?!"

Rios nearly went insane from the absurdity of the quest.

Fortunately, the system didn’t leave him without assistance!

ــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــ

Ding!

[Advance Reward]

Reward Details: Due to the Host’s pitiful weakness, the system has decided to grant some rewards in advance.

Note: These rewards will be deducted from the Main Quest reward.

Reward 1: Flexibility (Legendary)

Your body will become as flexible as a snake and as agile as a monkey. You can now control your branches and roots as if they were your own hands and feet.

Reward 2: Armament (Legendary)

This skill will add a defensive layer around your body and transform your branches and roots into deadly weapons.

Note: During full Armament, the Host can only maintain the skill for ten minutes due to the Host’s limited energy!

ــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــ

Rios looked at his new skills with sparkling eyes like a child who had just found the greatest toy in the world.

"Shall we give it a try then? How do I use it? Do I focus on it like I do with the system panel?"

Rios stopped thinking for a few seconds before fully focusing on [Flexibility].

Slowly, Rios’s four roots rose from the ground and eventually stood upright like the legs of a spider!

"This is amazing! And it’s so easy!"

Using his four roots, Rios performed something resembling squats in a scene that was nothing short of ridiculous!

Imagine a tree doing squats!

Up! Down! Up! Down!...

It would definitely be hilariously disturbing.

"Let’s try this too."

Rios lowered himself slowly before suddenly exerting force!

Whoosh!

Rios launched himself upward with all his strength before falling like a meteor from a height of twenty meters.

BOOM!

"Ouch! That hurt a little. I’d better be careful the next time I try that."

Rios grumbled and complained, though it was obvious he was delighted.

"Alright, let’s test the second skill."

Armament

Energy surged around Rios and merged with his tissues.

In an instant, his wooden bark transformed into a layer of extremely durable black crystal. Something resembling a metallic mesh with razor-sharp edges wrapped around each of his ten hanging whip-like branches.

At the end of every flexible branch, something similar to a spearhead emerged!

Controlling his flexible branches, Rios launched one toward a nearby tree.

The tree’s trunk was nearly two meters thick.

Rios had expected his Armament-enhanced branch to merely scratch the trunk or perhaps penetrate it slightly.

What he saw instead caused his eyes to widen dramatically.

BOOM!

The whip-like branch stretched out and shot forward like a bullet.

With absurd ease, it pierced straight through the center of the trunk as though it were stabbing through a block of butter.

"Th-This... this little thing is that powerful?"

Rios recalled the whip and brought it before his face, carefully examining it.

A few seconds later, his red eyes began to shine.

"With these destructive flexible branches and this crystal armor, I look more like a moving fortress than a tree. And honestly, I absolutely love it, hehehe!"

After finishing his admiration of the new whips, Rios looked at the skill details once more.

"The skill says my branches and roots will transform into deadly weapons, but the roots didn’t undergo any changes like the flexible branches apart from the crystal defensive layer. Then could it be..."

As if a sudden realization had struck him, all information related to the skill flowed into his mind.

Rios moved toward the tree his whip had pierced and wrapped one of his four roots around the trunk. He squeezed tightly and focused on Armament once again.

Crack! Crack! Crack!

KRAAAK...!

BOOOOOOM...!

Rios froze in place while staring at his root, now covered in crystalline spikes.

Within moments, that root had reduced a tree trunk nearly two meters thick into fragments!

"What kind of damn monster have I become now..."

Rios muttered in disbelief as he admired his new abilities and the various powers granted by the system.

Suddenly, however, he heard a sound nearby!

Hissss! Hissss!

Rios looked toward the surrounding trees and discovered a gigantic snake nearly twenty meters long staring at him as if he were the most delicious source of energy in the entire world!

The snake was completely black, with crimson eyes and a mouth filled with saw-like teeth.

Two short, sharp horns protruded from its head, making it look like a demon.

"Holy shit! Is that a prehistoric snake?!"
