A Core Ship From The Start
Chapter 2599 - 1739: Looks a Bit Familiar?
Duanmu Huai never passed up a chance to beat a dog when it’s down. After confirming that the Star God was already rolling all over the ground from his beating, he decisively made up his mind, opened the Subspace channel again, and hurried back to that world to finish it off.
After all, the flow of time in these two worlds was different. If Duanmu Huai went back too late, who knew, maybe hundreds or even thousands of years would have passed there already, and the Star God’s injuries might have healed... That would be a pain, so he had to make it quick.
This time, the destination was of course still that Mental Hospital. But with Fureya and Nolan helping, Duanmu Huai didn’t have to run around blindly in Subspace like before. He could directly lock onto the coordinates, then open a Teleportation Portal and jump over.
"I wonder what that world’s going to look like this time."
Standing in the Teleportation Array, Hei Chuan Chi Yin was a bit uneasy. She knew that world’s flow of time was different from this one. Although only a few months had passed here, over there it might already have been hundreds or thousands of years. And that world didn’t have Duanmu Huai. Although Hei Chuan Chi Yin didn’t know exactly how powerful the Star Gods were, even Duanmu Huai couldn’t completely wipe one out. Didn’t that mean it basically had no opponent in that world?
"We probably don’t need to worry too much. Before I left, I did beat the crap out of that thing. It should need a lot of time to recover. And Humans... shouldn’t go extinct that easily."
Duanmu Huai stretched his limbs a bit, then looked at Fureya and Nolan.
"Alright, let’s begin."
"Yes, Brave Lord..."
Hearing Duanmu Huai’s order, Fureya and Nolan turned their eyes to Hei Chuan Chi Yin. The latter was silent for a moment, then raised her hand. Very soon, with Hei Chuan Chi Yin’s movements, the entire Magic Circle shone with a brilliant, vivid light. At the same time, Duanmu Huai felt the gravity that had been holding his body down gradually disappear. His body started floating off the ground like a balloon, as if he were about to fly up into the sky———
Then, heaven and earth flipped.
Gravity suddenly appeared above him, seized Duanmu Huai’s body, and yanked him "upward" toward the sky. Duanmu Huai opened his Eyes, only to realize that right now he was passing through the clouds, plummeting toward the "sky"———or rather, toward the ground.
And below them was...
"Yo, looks like this world’s developed pretty nicely."
Looking at the densely packed city beneath him, Duanmu Huai didn’t care at all that he was currently falling. Instead, he peered around curiously. There were skyscrapers, it looked quite modern. Which meant that afterward, Humans really had wiped out the Evil Dragon and then developed an even higher-Level civilization?
Although, it didn’t look all that peaceful either.
Duanmu Huai turned his head toward his "downward" side. On the rooftop of a skyscraper, a group of bizarre Monsters were attacking Humans. Their forms were twisted and grotesque, and extremely ferocious. Any Human caught by these Monsters would carbonize amid their screams, turning into a pile of pitch-black ash.
He didn’t know what the hell they were—but whatever, kill them first!
By now, Duanmu Huai was once again clad in pitch-black Power Armor. He gripped his Chainsaw Sword, kicked on his Jet Backpack to flip himself over, and then slammed heavily into the ground.
"Bang!"
The hard concrete ground cracked open into a huge fissure from Duanmu Huai’s impact. Those strange Monsters also noticed his presence, and very soon some of the Monsters pounced at him.
"Die!"
Duanmu Huai certainly didn’t take these weird, misshapen Slime-like things seriously. He roared, and swung his Chainsaw Sword straight at the Monster in front of him.
However, to Duanmu Huai’s surprise, his Chainsaw Sword passed right through the other party’s body, as if there were nothing there at all!
On the contrary, after taking Duanmu Huai’s slash head-on, that Monster rushed at him, and Duanmu Huai hurriedly pulled his Sword back to block, putting some distance between them.
What the hell, I can’t hit it but it can hit me? How shameless is that?
Just as Duanmu Huai was thinking about how to deal with these things, beams of Magic Beam suddenly rained down from the sky, piercing the Monsters in front of him. Then, with Fureya and Nolan’s assistance, Hei Chuan Chi Yin also landed.
"Xiao Ai, are you okay?!"
"I’m fine. What the hell are these things?"
"Their bodies don’t seem to be in this plane."
When it came to Magic theory, among the people present, only Fureya had a clue.
"From my observation, these Monsters seem to be switching between this world and another one. When they Attack the enemy, they shift into this world, but when they’re Attacked, they shift themselves back to the other world..."
"What kind of damned Subspace trash is this? I hate these freaky weird things the most."
If they were ordinary Subspace Monsters, Duanmu Huai’s Attack just now should’ve still been able to interfere with them, right?
"Brave Lord, look over there."
While Duanmu Huai was thinking about how to deal with the enemy, Fureya pointed to the other side of the stage. Duanmu Huai focused his gaze and saw two girls fighting over there. They were wearing tight combat suits that looked like something out of a sentai show, wielding a Long Spear and a blade as they cut down the Monsters.
No, why can they hit them? Wait... what are they doing, singing?
Duanmu Huai stared closely at them and realized that while the two girls were hacking away at Monsters, their mouths never stopped singing.
What’s going on? Why the singing?
"Their singing seems to possess some kind of mysterious power."
Fureya chimed in with a timely explanation.
"I can feel it. When they sing, those Monsters trying to shift into another world get interfered with and can’t complete the transfer in time."
"So that’s how it is. You’re saying we have to eat hotpot and sing songs at the same time if we want to wipe these Monsters out?"
"I don’t think the hotpot part is necessary..."
Hearing Duanmu Huai mutter to himself, Hei Chuan Chi Yin wiped cold sweat and threw in a jab. She used Magic, so the dimensional shift of these Monsters didn’t affect Hei Chuan Chi Yin, but for Duanmu Huai, it was a bit of a headache.
But.........
As long as singing can interfere with them, right? Then let’s give it a shot.
Duanmu Huai was definitely not going to copy those two girls, fighting and singing at the same time. That’s real overtime hell, who the hell can pull that off.
But he had tech on his side!
Duanmu Huai took out his phone, opened the amp app, then plugged it into his Power Armor.
"Uh, is... this actually going to work?"
Watching Duanmu Huai’s whole sequence of operations, Hei Chuan Chi Yin was already dumbfounded.
"We’ll only know if we try. If it doesn’t work, we’ll think of something else!"
Leaving those words behind, Duanmu Huai swung his Chainsaw Sword and charged at the Monsters again!
Duanmu Huai was just adopting a "dead horse as a live horse doctor" mentality to test it out, but what he didn’t expect was that this trick actually worked!
At least while the music was playing, when Duanmu Huai swung his Chainsaw Sword at those Slime-like Monsters again, their bodies didn’t blur into phantoms and phase through like before. Instead, they were straight-up chopped cleanly in half by Duanmu Huai!
Nice, done and dusted!
Feeling the solid impact coming from his hands, Duanmu Huai was overjoyed.
If I can hit you, then you can go to hell!
There were a lot of these Monsters, but their combat power wasn’t anything special. With the music buff, Duanmu Huai waded in swinging his Chainsaw Sword and went on a full-on massacre.
"I am the Heavy Hammer!"
Duanmu Huai leapt high into the air, then slammed down onto the ground. A howling wave of Sword Qi exploded out, instantly shredding the massive Brachiosaurus-like Monster in front of him into fragments.
"In the name of the Tribunal, all shall be burned away! Confess your sins, then die in terror!"
Before his voice had even fallen, Duanmu Huai had already turned into a whirlwind and dashed forward. He punched straight through the entire horde of Monsters; everything in his path was sliced cleanly in two. They let out ear-piercing screams, like meat slices sucked into a meat grinder—shattered, torn apart, then vanished without a trace.
"This is the fate of all that is loathsome. Don’t even dream of resting in peace!"
The Monsters twisted their eerie, jelly-like bodies and lunged at him. Under the blessing of the Hymn, the Chainsaw Sword in Duanmu Huai’s hands roared and shrieked as it tore their bodies apart, carving through their flesh.
This was the last one, at least around here.
Duanmu Huai paused and glanced at a shard of mirror beside him. His reflection floated on its surface: a Power Armor warrior drenched in blood, gripping an icy Chainsaw Sword, his Armor blasting deafening music at max volume.........
Huh, why does this image look kind of familiar?
If I spray it in Death Barbie Pink, it’d be even more on point......
Thinking of this, Duanmu Huai shivered.
"Mad! I knew it, art is a trap! Like hell I’m turning into those lunatics!"
Duanmu Huai spat, forcefully tossing that nauseating image to the back of his mind.
He was not a Noise Warrior!
Just then, the other two girls who’d been fighting the Monsters also came over to Duanmu Huai’s side. Seeing his bizarre getup, they both froze for a moment.
"We don’t know who you are, but thank you for your assistance."
One of them, a red-haired girl holding a Long Spear, gave Duanmu Huai a nod.
"Please, fight alongside us!"
"That’s exactly what I had in mind."
Duanmu Huai raised his Chainsaw Sword again, pointing it forward. Even now he still had no idea what exactly was going on in this world at the moment, but that didn’t matter. Anything that threatened Humans had to be utterly annihilated—that was the mission of the Tribunal. And as a Judge, Duanmu Huai naturally only had one thing to do.
"Let’s wipe out every last one of these pieces of trash!"
He bared his teeth and growled.
